The PsychResponse, Child Unit, is driven by the philosophy that "prevention is better than cure". The unit incorporate, working collaboratively with the child's family, school and other health professionals to ensure the delivery of high quality assessment and treatment. Further support is provided to children of all ages and abilities through one-on-one therapy and Group Counselling

At PsychResponse we also conduct a range of psychological assessment, including, structured interviews, observations in natural settings when possible, informal assessments and standardized psychological test which provide valuable information about a child’s level of functioning and an index for evaluating change. Often, standardized tests can be costly, however, at PsychResponse we are offering these test at the most affordable prices to ensure that our philosophy of “early prevention” is fulfilled. 

 

Standardized psychological tests used to identify cognitive delay, learning difficulties or intellectual giftedness include:  

 

⦁    The Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence- 3rd Edition (WPPSI-III) (Age group 2.5-7) 
⦁    The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- 4th Edition  (WISC-IV) Australian Standardized Edition (Age group 6-16)
⦁    Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – 2nd Edition (WIAT-II) Australian Standardized Edition (4 years through to adults)

 

Standardised behavioural assessments include: 

⦁    Conners Early Childhood (Conners EC) (Age group 2-6): aids in the early identification of behavioural, social, and emotional problems. It also assists in measuring whether or not the child is appropriately meeting major developmental milestones (Adaptive Skills, Communication, Motor Skills, Play and Pre-Academic/Cognitive). 

⦁    Conners 3rd Edition (Age group 6-18): Offers a thorough assessment of ADHD and comorbid disorders such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder. 

⦁    Childhood Autism Rating Scale, Second Edition (CARS2) (Age group 2+): is a screening questionnaire that helps to identify children with autism and determine symptom severity through quantifiable ratings based on direct observation 

⦁    Adolescent coping scale (ACS): Measures the frequency of usage of a variety of coping strategies typically used by adolescents.
